The Company was incorporated in 1961. The Company manufactures insulators of all types and voltage from low tension to high tension voltage upto 330 K.V. and above., proclaim supports, separations, baffles, fixtures, bustings, condensers, lightning arresters, transformers and circuit breaker's for voltages upto 330 K.V. and above.
The Company has entered into technical collaboration with Westinghouse Electric International Co., of U.S.A., Messrs Emile Haefely & Co. Ltd Basel, Switzerland, M/s Meanwandler Ban GmbH, West Germany, Messer's Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.Ltd., Japan.
2007
-WS Industries India Ltd has appointed Mr. Julian C Schroeder as an Additional Director on the Board of the Company.
2008
-WS Industries India Ltd has informed that the equity shares of the Company have been delisted from the Madras Stock Exchange Ltd (MSE).
-W S Industries (I) Ltd has appointed Mr. K.S. Natarajan as Company Secretary and also Compliance Officer, with effect from January 03, 2008.
- WS Industries India Ltd has informed that Mr. N Srinivasan has been co-opted as an Additional Director on the Board of the Company at its meeting held on January 28, 2008.

-The Company's new unit established at APSEZ, Duppituru Village,Visakhapatnam.
