1895 - The Company was incorporated on 7th January at Calcutta. The main activities are cultivation & sale of tea. The total area under cultivation is 1,427.56 hectares. The company owns four gardens in Assam viz., Doyang, Dessoie, Kanu and Teen Ali. 1948 - 14,703 Bonus `A' Equity shares issued. 1954 - 24,718 `A' bonus shares and 24,079 `B' bonus shares issued to holders in prop. 1:2 by capitalising reserve.  1958 - On 1st January, the Teen Ali Tea Co. Ltd., was amalgamated with the Company. - 45,000 fully paid `A' shares of Rs. 10 each issued without payment in cash to the shareholders of Teen Ali Co. Ltd., in prop. 1:1 on its merger with the Company.  1959 - All shares converted into equity shares of Rs. 5 each. 1,55,272 right equity shares then issued (prem. Rs. 2.50 per share prop. 1:1).  1965 - The Company acquired Doyang Estate on 20th January. 1980 - 4,65,817 bonus equity shares issued in prop. 1:1.  1985 - Profits declined due to shortfall in the crop and lower average price realised for the company's teas. 1989 - Good field management, strict quality control and the general buoyancy in the tea market enabled the company to improve the working results. |
