The Company was incorporated on 11th November, 1974 in Gujarat.

It was promoted jointly by Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation Ltd., and Phillips Carbon Black Ltd. The Company manufactures Carbon Black.

The Company entered into an agreement with Phillips Petroleum Company of U.S.A. for giving the license for the manufacture of carbon the license for the manufacture of carbon black by using Phillip Furnace Black process and to supply technical services information and consultancy services.

The company entered into a technical know-how agreement with Phillips Carbon Black Ltd. for the supply of complete technical know-how for the manufacture of carbon black, detailed process design and detailed engineering documentation with drawings and blue prints of the furnace black process reactors, assist in selection of equipments and superwise the erection of work and operations of plant.

Initial operations were started from the beginning of 1978-79.

The name of the company was changed from Gujarat Carbon Ltd. to consolidated Petrotech Industries Ltd. with effect from 16-8-1989.
