In Tamilnadu, there are 92 bank holidays this year in 2017. Including Sunday second and fourth Saturday excluding the government holiday. In Tamilnadu, one more public Holiday has been declared this year in 2017 that is on the birthday of Tamilnadu veteran actor and ex-chief minister (1977-1987) MG Ramachandran famously called as MGR.
This public holiday is applicable to all State government offices, corporations, boards constituted by the government and all banks.
This government holiday in not applicable for government offices related to the central government though those offices are in Tamilnadu.
Chief Secretary Girija Vaithiyanathan declared this public holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act and asked private banks and companies to consider declaring January 17 as a holiday for their employees in view of the centenary event.
Excluding this public holiday, bank has normal government holidays and specifically for bank there is a holiday on April 1st which bank accounts closing day.
